North Platte Gifted Program

The North Platte R-I School District is pleased to announce that we will be implementing a gifted program for our students at the start of the 2024-2025 school year.  We will be starting the identification and evaluation process during the second semester of the 2023-2024 school year and plan to begin the actual classroom gifted program this August.

The guidelines for the program can be found at North Platte Gifted Program Guidelines (1).pdf   Our plan at this time will be for the gifted program to be for qualifying students in grades 3-8.  At the Intermediate School, we expect the program to be a pullout program during morning intervention time at the beginning of the day.  In our Junior High, the gifted program will be offered as an elective course for eligible students.  This initial setup may be altered some but this is our plan at this time.

We will be utilizing our already existing quarterly assessments in grades 2-7 as one initial universal screening tool to identify students.  Parents/guardians of children who qualify for the additional evaluation process will be contacted over the next few weeks with further information.

We are excited about this opportunity for our students and will be sending out more information soon.  Please contact Karl Matt, Superintendent, at 816-450-3511 or [email protected] if you have questions about the program.
